Spotify auto renewal email from AppleID account

Like most phishing emails, they have absolutely no idea if an email is legit, or even if it belongs to anyone. The scammers send out thousands of such emails in the hope that someone responds, which would confirm there is someone at the receiving end of the address.

It is a phishing attempt. Do not respond to, or otherwise act on the email.

How did they obtain my email? I am careful on this stuff but not sure about Apple. I hope to get Apple response.

Unfortunately, you will not get a response from Apple here - we are all other users just like you.

In case you did not know: emails addresses are stolen/bought by the thousands daily. If yours is floating through the ethernet at the right time, bots will harvest the email address. Or it is purchased from someone or stolen by hacking into any of your friends' accounts.

I'd be more careful about the security of my email; they hope to use Apple & other major corporations as a gateway to get us to click on links and so forth. Our email info/availability is what they hope to gain access to in order to obtain our very personal info such as DOB, receipts, etc. I have two-step verification on my gmail.

However, as the other users mentioned, the scammers will get our email addresses somehow (usually by guessing & automated responses).

I report as Spam when I receive in my actual inbox.
