Random question.
On my old MacBook I had a tiled desktop background and the image tiles were a bigger size - approximately 9 tiles of the image fitted on my screen.
When I updated my MacBook, the image tiles are much smaller - 20 tiles fit on my screen. Is there anyway to make the image tiles bigger without changing the image size of every image?

Then there's your answer. Retina displays show more of a background, like the one you mentioned. You can try scaling your display, but that would change how EVERYTHING shows up, not just your background. Read more here: Using a Retina display - Apple Support
Essentially, unless I'm missing something big here. It's all about the size of the image in pixels relative to the size of your screen in pixels (or pixel density or something like that). The point is that Retina displays are 'bigger' than non-Retina displays because they are higher-resolution.
So is it basically that because the screen has a much better resolution it shows the tiles smaller so that the images appear as a better quality, because if they were bigger than they'd be poorer quality with retina?
You're probably getting more image tiles because your new MacBook has a better screen. Did your old MacBook have a Retina display?
