Booting from iPod (as drive) not working anymore...

On a Mac running Mountain Lion, I've regularly been booting from a disk image of another machine running Mountain Lion.

The boots went without a hitch until today. The computer had crashed, so I did a hard reboot, and the monitor has just stayed a light gray color for twenty minutes.

Currently, the iPod screen says "Connected. Eject before disconnecting." It's possible that the times I successfully booted from the iPod, the iPod displayed the "Choose your language" screen for the setup of a music iPod.

Any ideas how I can get the boot-from-iPod to work again? Thanks in advance!

OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)
