Safe mode hanging

My MacBook Pro OSX 100.13.3 will start normally but it will not start in Safe Mode. I start, press shift key and then release when the Apple logo appears. The bar slowly fills up but then everything hangs on the white screen. No problems at all with normal start.

Thanks

Keith

Safe Boot mode is significantly slower than a normal boot because it is doing several house-keeping chores before you get to the login screen. The big time sink is that it is checking the health of your drive, and with APFS, that means a really long wait.

Give it time. Go enjoy a cup of dark roast.
