Creating pause at end zoom of Ken Burns slide show

I'm working on a slide show in iMovies 10.1.8 and am attempting to create a pause on the zoomed-in portion of a photo in Ken Burns. I read an old post (2005) that said that once you have made a duplicate Ken Burns frame (option - drag) you click on the "end" to highlight it and then option - click on the "start" to make them one, but that doesn't seem to work. I've created a duplicate photo with the same zoom parameters but would like to know how to preserve the exact zoomed-in portion of the photo to extend viewing time of the close up/zoom. (I've recently upgraded from iMovies 8.0.6, only because I was forced to do so and am ... struggling.) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, nita,

1. Select the Ken Burns clip you just made.

2. Do an Edit/Copy, Edit/Paste of the clip so that the duplicate is side by side with with the first clip in the timeline.

3. Select the new clip.

4. Select Crop

5. Reverse the Ken burns clip with the reverse arrows.

6. Adjust the end point rectangle to make it the same as the start point rectangle.

7. Reset.

Another way to do it is to pause the Ken Burns clip at the end frame, take a screen shot of the preview screen (Command-Shift-4, drag to outline the screen, and release), and then drag the screen shot from your desktop back into your iMovie time line, placing it next to your Ken Burns clip.
