Hey, ningle81.

It appears that the Music application on your device isn't working as expected. When you try to search for a song, the application quits. I'm happy to help.

How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- First, force close Music application if it's open, then -- Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- Restart your iPhone. Once it's returned to the Home screen, test the issue.

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch -- If restarting your iPhone didn't resolve the issue, please be sure to have a fresh backup to keep your personal information safe. In order to back up your Health data, the backup needs to be encrypted. iCloud does this automatically, but iTunes doesn't. If you'd like to use iTunes to back up your iPhone, refer to this article: About encrypted backups in iTunes

How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch -- A new feature in iOS 11 is the ability to delete an application, but retain it's data. If restarting your iPhone didn't resolve the issue, you can offload the Music application, then reinstall it again. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage, scroll to the Music application and tap "Offload App". Once the application has been removed, reinstall it again and test.

Let me know how that goes.

Take care!

Thank you getting back to us with that information, vousami. It's appreciated. Since reinstalling the Music app hasn't resolved the issue, I'd like for you to reinstall iOS.

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch -- Please be certain you have a fresh backup of your iPhone to keep your personal information safe.

If you can‘t update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- Even though this article was created for a different issue, the steps are the same to reinstall iOS. Please note that on step #4 you want to make sure you click Update.

Let me know how that goes.

Take care!

Hi SnickZ,

I've update my iPhone to 11.2.6 (15D100) and the Apple Music search facility still crashes out the app when the first character is typed into search box.

Any further ideas to sort this apart from a total restore? Is there a bug in the Apple Music software? I have exactly the same problem on another older iPhone running iOS 11.2.6 (15D100) logged into same iCloud account where searching 'Apple Music' and "Your Library' crashes the app as above.

Thanks

Thank you for getting back to us with that question, ningle81. The article provided gives the steps to reinstalling the entire iOS on your device. The steps provided shouldn't completely erase your phone. The backup recommendation is provided in case there's an issue in order to keep the data you have on your phone.

Cheers!

I’ve been having this issue since yesterday, since the global iTunes issue. I’ve done everything from deleting the apps, restoring my phone, and the music app still crashes when I use the search bar, and has become completely unusable. This is the only reason i chose to use iPhone and I’m just about through with Apple altogether over this headache.
