Time Machine won’t back up with Sierra. I use a Capsule, and when I enter to say back up, which takes an extremely long time, I get a message that the back up was interrupted

I’m unable to get Time Machine to back up to my Airport Capsule, suggestions? It was working fine until this fall.

MacBook Pro, iOS 11.2.6

Time Machine can't back up to Airport Time Capsule I've used an Airport Time Capsule for backup since Sep 2014 with no problem, but starting yesterday I get msg 'Backup Failed: Time Machine couldn't back up to "Airport Den" [which is what I named the Time Capsule]'. When I ask for details it says The backup disk is not in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format, which is required." I certainly haven't changed the OS on the Time Capsule and have no idea how to find out what OS it is using. Any ideas? I'm using an iMac with MacOS Catalina (10.15.7). Thanks!

Time Capsule takes forever in "preparing backup…" mode Updating from El Capitan to High Sierra on a 27" iMac 11,3 and want to use Time Capsule on Apple's wireless router as a safety net. I did turn Time Machine off several days ago (1st time in 10 years) and turned it on today to have a fresh back up before the upgrade. However, it has been stuck in "preparing backup…" mode. Time Machine system preference pane is functional as is the menu bar. The backup disk is recognized and checks out OK via Airport Utility routine. It's just perpetually preparing to back up. Lost for answers.
