Airprint woks on iphone not on ipad

I have an airprint compatible HP Officejet pro 6798 printer. I am able to airprint from my iphone but cannot airprint from my ipad, both devices are the same ios version. I have verified the printer is configured correctly. Both the printer and ipad and iphone are connected to the same wifi network. When I try to airprint from the ipad it indicated 'no airprint printers found'
