4s Recognition & Set Up

I set up my old 4S (iOS 7.1.2) for my mother in 2016 using my Mac mini OS 10.12.6

I now want to give her a 5C but when plugging the 4S is plugged connected to the Mac the only options appearing in iTunes is to set up as a new phone or restore from a previous back up. There is no option to back up the set and then seek to transfer it all to the 5C.

I am willing to input all of her numbers again from scratch although I would rather not.

Any help would be GREAT.

That is very nice of you to hand down your older devices to your mom.

The alert you see is indicative that the device has not been connected to that computer previously. I would suggest to make sure that she is signed into iCloud with her ID in settings on the 4S and ensure that the items syncing to iCloud that she wants synced are selected then do an iCloud back up. Once it is complete, she can then sign in with her ID to the 5c that you are giving her. That way all of her info such as contacts, calendars, notes etc. will be synced to her ID in iCloud.
