Macbook Pro 2010 wont startup!

I've been given a Macbook Pro that when turned on goes to language selection, then OS X utilities, Ive tried the Reinstall OS X option, but it wants to put Yosemite on and after signing in tells me "unavailable at this time" any help gratefully recieved!
