Hello lynntg,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to see traffic in the Maps app on your iPhone as you expect. To help with this, make sure this setting is enabled correctly with these steps from these Apple resources:

Avoid tolls and highways, and see traffic in your area

To avoid tolls and highways, go to Settings > Maps > Driving & Navigation. Then tap the sliders for Tolls and Highways.

If there's traffic in the area, you'll see these colors:

  • Orange lines show traffic
  • Red lines show heavy traffic

You might also see markers for road closures User uploaded file, construction User uploaded file, and accidents User uploaded file.

Find out about traffic conditions. From the map or satellite view, tap User uploaded file, then turn on Traffic. Orange shows slowdowns, and red shows stop-and-go traffic. To see an incident report, tap an incident marker.

Use Maps on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Get traffic and other info - iPhone User Guide

Next, force close the Maps app and restart your iPhone as iOS clears cached data and does other system optimizations when you turn your device off and on. Then test your issue with traffic in the Maps app again.

Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Cheers!
