Trying to cut the cable and wondering how close owning the latest apple TV gets me to that goal. I'm happy to pay a subscription fee for an app but if I need a cable tv subscription, I'm paying for a lot more - for stuff I don't need or want.
If you want to watch ‘live tv’ from content providers that have no app presence, you may want to look into getting HDHomeRun (offering a box with antenna input connecting to your network router). Has good reviews working with Apple TV and the Channels app.
