High Sierra - SMTP not working

Since I have upgraded to High Sierra, the SMTP does not work. I have uninstalled and re-installed the OS multiple time... The usual symptom is that the port gets configured as 0 instead of 567. Any update or fix to that close to 10 years old problem affecting Mail ???????

In Mac OS high Sierra 10.13.3 using as a gmail account you don't have to enter the port settings other settings like host name , gmail address or password manually .

Now they are saved as automatically , in previous versions the Mac user has to enter it manually .

And its a very useful setting and it has no impact of sending or receiving mails , you have to just configure the apple mail application with web mail account and rest of settings will come ok by default .

See these screen shots .
