though i'm connected to internet but my device is saying verification failed connect to internet
It is iPhone 5s and iOS 10

Do you have access to another network where you can try to log in? That has worked for several people.
What has also worked for some is trying 10 + times in a row.
Try a restart.
Try a forced restart.
