can’t remove image desktop

Hi. I tried to attach an image to a shortcut on my desktop on imac. After removing all images and files on my desktop the icon seems to be attached to the desktop background. I cannot select and delete it. Login as guest solves the issue... where can i remove it or restore this?

1. Shutdown the Mac from  menu bar, restart and test.

2. Reset Dock.

Finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal

Enter

defaults delete.apple.dock; killall Dock

Press Return key on the keyboard.

Quit Terminal and test.
