Airplay connection problems from iMac

My Marantz stereo is connected to my home network. It has Airplay enabled.

I can stream music to the Marantx from my iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or from my iMac. Every now and then I have to restart the devices. Apart from that I have had no issues with this.

Suddenly, from one day to another, without doing any updates or any changes to anything on my network, I can no longer stream music from my iMac to the Marantz.

I have of course rebooted everything, including my router. I can still without any problems, stream music to the Marantz from the iPhone, iPad or AppleTV. The Marantz shows up as an available Airplay speaker in iTunes om my iMac. If I shut down the Marantz, it disappeared from the Airplay speakers list in iTunes.And when I reboot the Marantz, it shows up again. The Marantz is having no network problems. I can use internet radio on it etc.

But when I try to connect the iMac to the Marantz, I get an error message saying "An error occurred when connecting to the Airplay unit Marantz. AN unknown error 20".

Any suggestions for further troubleshooting?

Yes, I see that this guy has the same issue, but unfortunately no replies.

It is not a big deal for me. I have played music from my iMac to my stereo using the remote app on my iPhone to control it, for many years. But of course now it is basically easier to just stream directly from the iPhone, or to use my AppleTV as a media center. So streaming from the iMac might be a little bit old fashioned. I am still a little bit annoyed though when things are not working the way they are supposed to and I cannot figure out why.

Update:

I have just updated to the latest version of iTunes. When I now try to connect the iMac to my Marantz, I get the following error message:

"The Airplay device is not compatible with this version of iTunes".

So it seems the problem is on the Marantz side. And I guess Marantz is not coming with a software update to solve the problem. Unfortunately

can you airplay from iMac to appletv ? if not then maybe the iMacs firewall is the culprit

Im experiencing the same problem exactly as described after updating my iOS on iMac, the Marantz is still working with the iPhone. this is really annoying.
