Is this a scam to get me to replace a screen?

My iPhone 6 works fine but the battery was not holding charge as well as it should. So I heard about the $29 battery replacement deal with Apple and sent my phone in to the official Apple repair service. They contacted me and told me that the screen also needed to be repaired. I told him I just wanted the battery but they said that they couldn’t/ wouldn’t just do the battery without my getting the screen done. They wanted me to pay $129 to fix the imperceptibly small crack On the upper left corner. I’m showing you photos of my phone. User uploaded file

You, wise Apple community, please tell me if this is a scam or not. The closeup photo is below. Please note that Phone works fine, I just wanted a new battery!

Hello,

The only possible thing I can think off here is to replace the battery, Apple must remove your screen which this crack could get worse.

I think Apple is being a little over the top in this situation and I would ask to speak to the store manager to see what can be done.

If they still refuse, take your business elsewhere and go to a third-party fixer. - This will void any warranty you have on your device.
