Is this a scam to get me to replace a screen?

My iPhone 6 works fine but the battery was not holding charge as well as it should. So I heard about the $29 battery replacement deal with Apple and sent my phone in to the official Apple repair service. They contacted me and told me that the screen also needed to be repaired. I told him I just wanted the battery but they said that they couldn’t/ wouldn’t just do the battery without my getting the screen done. They wanted me to pay $129 to fix the imperceptibly small crack On the upper left corner. I’m showing you photos of my phone.

You, wise Apple community, please tell me if this is a scam or not. The closeup photo is below. Please note that Phone works fine, I just wanted a new battery!

Hello,

The only possible thing I can think off here is to replace the battery, Apple must remove your screen which this crack could get worse.

I think Apple is being a little over the top in this situation and I would ask to speak to the store manager to see what can be done.

If they still refuse, take your business elsewhere and go to a third-party fixer. - This will void any warranty you have on your device.
