Keychain Access problem - High Sierra 10.13.3 (SU)

Hello to the whole Community,

I've seen a lot of topics about keychain problems, but still haven't found an answer.

In short...

I've changed Keychain Access password (login) and all was OK.

Problems begun a few hours later when I’d restarted Mac.

1. "login" Keychain Settings were reset

2. New password resets to the old one

3. All Safari extensions had been gone

And on the top of all that, most of passwords (apps, mail etc) had to be entered - again.

Is there any solution for this nuisance?

When you change a Keychain password then you also need to re-enter all passwords that were previously set in the old Keychain. If the Keychain password and your Admin password are not the same, then you need to change the password for your Admin account.

Hi Kappy,

Thanks for yours reply and links.

I recognise this as a problem because, on the same Mac running macOS Sierra 10.12.x, in Keychain Access app, I’ve changed password for Keychain “login”** frequently (never created new Keychain), and after each change nothing happens — in terms of problems related to reset of Keychain Settings***, lost Safari extensions and all before mentioned…And I have had different password for Admin, Users and Keychain. Yes, I read the Mac Help****

If the keychain password does not match your login password, when you log in you must also enter a password to unlock the keychain.
