trouble finding tons of music

I loaded oodles and oodles of music from cds I had directly onto my computer before moving to lighten the load. Now when I go to my iTunes Library, most of them have an encircled "i" beside each track. When I click on that, I get a window that says "The song (whatever) could not be used because the original file could not be found, Would you like to locate it." If I click on the Locate option, it opens the computer from the Documents folder and I have no idea where to look. Perhaps there was a folder on my old computer that didn't migrate over (like a zillion of my photos) and I should search there first. But I wondered if anyone had experience with or advice for getting these songs into a playlist for the gym?

Hello Sir Richard. Thanks for coming to my rescue. I've followed your instructions and here we go:

1. you say "To transfer a music library to a new computer, you just have to move this entire folder." I want to be clear if we're talking about the .itl database, the media folder or both?

2. I don't even see an iTunes Media folder on my new macbook pro but I went ahead and transferred the one that appeared on the earlier MBP to the new one in the iTunes location.

3. This is what I get when I spotlight search "iTunes Media" on the NEW mbp:

User uploaded file

No clearly identifiable Media folder (new computer)

4. You mention "...iTunes Media, which should contain all your music, videos, and whatever else you've got that's associated with iTunes...What you're really looking for is the folder called iTunes Media, with many, many folders inside it containing all your music." As you can see from the photo here, my media folder has next to nothing...only things I've purchased from iTunes in the past 2 days (to replace must-haves i couldn't find since the original migration). Why would I have so little rather than "many, many?"

5. Unfortunately I've been racking my brain to think of a song that should be there but isn't and I'm failing for now. So, I don't really know if/when I'll find a mysteriously hidden itl. folder that has everything. But I will keep you reply to my query since it's filled with such good stuff in readable english for when I move forward with this nonsense! Thanks so much.
