Difficulty with Photos

I have a MacBook Air. When I downloaded macOS High Sierra, iPhoto seemed to disappear from my computer and be replaced by Photos. When I try to open "Photos", I receive the message, "The library 'Photos Library' has inconsistencies that must be repaired. I click on "repair" and then I receive the message, "The library could not be recognized." I don't know what's happening. In the past, I was accustomed to taking photos on my iPhone, and they would seamlessly appear in iPhoto on my computer and all was well. Can someone help with this? Thanks!

What did you upgrade from (version of iPhoto and of the OS)?

You still have iPhoto in your Applications folder and can launch it form there - you need iPhoto 9.6.1 to use it under High Sierra which may be difficult or impossible to get depending on what you upgraded from.

If you have iPhoto 9.6.1 the best path is to follow these suggestions to prepare the iPhoto library for migration - : Links to User tips re migrating from iPhoto to Photos - any you may need to useiPhoto Library Manager to rebuild the iPhoto library

Even if you do have iPhoto 9.6.1 it would be smart to repair the library and migrate to Photos as iPhoto was discontinued over three years ago and someday with some OS upgrade will quit working with no notice
