I keep getting an error code that my iPhone X can not be found. My iTunes and my phone are both up to date with software.

What does "up to date" mean exactly?


Your profile indicates you are using OS X 10.5.3, Leopard, which was released in May, 2008.


You need at least iTunes 12.7 to communicate to iOS 11. iTunes 12.7 requires OS X 10.10.5 or later.

You still have not told us your iTunes version number! If it is not iTunes 12.7.3, get it at:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download

It is not the current version of MacOS, which is High Sierra. But it is the latest Sierra.
