Why doesn't my macbook pro Early 2011 recognise an external HD anymore?

Since the upgrade to High Sierra, my MBP no longer recognises an external HD. The light on the external HD flashes and the disk spins but nothing happens on the MBP..

Any ideas?

External HDD works on old MacBook but not new MacBook? I have an external hard drive that works when connected to an old MacBook, but I bought a new MacBook, and the external hard drive appears briefly on my desktop and then disappears. After it disappears, I get the notification about improperly disconnecting the device. The external drive has a small light on the corner that remains on after the error message appears. There is no external power supply for the external hard drive. How do I make the drive stay on my desktop? Why does it disappear if the HDD is still powered on?

Hard disk "not mounted" High Sierra installation I'm trying to install macOS High Sierra and when open the Utility Disks' window ( when restart and hold "Alt") my hard disk internal results "not mounted" , I had "first aid" and it works, not issue. I have a Macbook pro late 2011.Any advices ? Thank you
