Migrate files from 2009 macbook pro using snow leopard to an imac running high sierra.

I am looking to migrate files from my 2009 macbook pro using snow leopard to an imac running high sierra. I will probably just migrate from a time machine backup but i have pictures under two different user names. How can i consildate to one user name I've had to change user to successfully have iPhoto point to older photos don't want to have that issue after migration

Migration assistant I have a Mac mini and I would like to set it up as a clean install but I need the photos from my old imac. I have time machine backups on on external HD so I thought it would be easy enough but all I can find is how to do it by migration assistant which wants to create a new user on the new mac and I tried just bringing the photos via migration assistant but they are not accessible even within the new user MA created. Is there a straightforward way of just moving my old photos without using migration assistant?thanks in advance.

Want to migrate Photos only I have a new MacBook Pro whcih I want to keep clean and not import everything from my old MBP. But I do want my Photos libarary. MIgration assistant wants to transfer my whole user folder, create a new user account etc. Is there a simple way to import ONLY the photos libarary to the user account on the new Mac? I have googled and searched the forums but haven't seen a solution

Setting up a new Mac mini - migrating photos from an external drive All the data used in Photos on my current Mac are on an external drive. (No photos except old iPhoto images are on the old iMac.) How do I ensure that the photos on the external drive are migrated to the new Mac mini and directly usable by Photos? I’m concerned that if I just do a straight “automatic” migration the new mini will replicate how the old iMac handled Photos (i.e. without any photos stored on the computer) and won’t pull in the data from the external drive. On the advice of an Apple specialist online some years ago, we moved all the photos to an external drive because there were permissions issues between accounts on the old iMac. We’d like to go back to having Photos store all the photos on the computer, with only backups on external drives. Any advice?
