Choose Utilities from the Finder’s Go menu and open the Disk Utility.

If the drive is listed in black, check the settings in the General tab of the Finder’s preferences.

If the drive is listed in gray, use the Disk Utility’s Mount, First Aid, or Repair Disk function.

If the drive isn’t listed, it’s either not connected properly or there’s a hardware problem inside the case.
