No Trash Noise

My IMac has stopped making the trash noise when I dump something in the trash bin.

I also notice that when I'm copying between folders/drives, there is also no confirmation noise.

Any ideas?

With your output volume set at an audible level, there is a very conspicuous selection in the System Preferences : Sound panel : Sound Effects tab that will solve your issue. √ Play user interface sound effects. You need the right device selected to hear the sound effects.

I once had a flushing toilet sound associated with my Trash back in the System 7 days. Popular in the office. 😉
