Thunderbolt ports suddenly dead / every other connector is fine

My thunderbolt ports on a late 2013 27” imac are abruptly dead, while every other port including USB are totally fine. Machine is rock solid otherwise. The apple store is quoting $600 for logic board replacement but this seems absurd. Can anything else be done?
