Cannot exit, loggoff or shut down out of Guest account

After logging in as a guest and trying to leave via a shutdown or loggout - I just get a black screen with an arrow

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), Version 10.11.5

Have you tried disabling and then re-enabling the guest user? This might fix the problem.


Is FileVault enabled? If so, the guest user is restricted to Safari and requires a reboot to launch Safari on the Recovery partition. The guest user can only be logged out by shutting down or restarting the Mac. Otherwise, the guest user is given a desktop and a temporary home folder with access to applications, and can be logged out normally.
