How long does it take to get the iTunes card delivered to email

Ordered iTunes.card to be delivered via email. Order placed at 317pm.

Letter of acknowledgement stating order is being processed received more than four hours ago yet item has not been delivered to the email and I have not been notified of delivery.Why does it take this long
