cant remember original password when i set up ipad and now new id doesnt work

Going mad! last night my ipad just decides to lock me out and requires the ID and password I set the account up with originally. unfortunately I have no clue, so set a new apple id, but the system wont allow this...... help!!!!

If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support


Doing account recovery is the only way to get it back for you. Designed to protect against theft. It will ask you the security questions and even the card on the account etc. Basic information used when setting up the account 🙂

Only the account that it's locked to can potentially re-activate it, creating a new account won't work. Have you tried : If you forgot your Apple ID - Apple Support ? If you can find or remember your id, to then reset its password : http://iforgot.apple.com


Or, and if you were the original purchaser of the iPad (i.e. it wasn’t bought used), you could try going to an Apple Store (make a Genius Bar appointment if you do) or try contacting iTunes Support online (https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html) and see if they can remove the iPad from the account - they are likely to want to see proof of ownership before they might help e.g. original receipt with the serial number on it
