ipad slow charging

I had this iPad model MD510B/A for over 2 years and have had no issues up to now. Having recently updated the software to IOS 10.3.3 I have noticed that the iPad no longer charges as fast as it did. For example, this morning, it has charged from 26% to 43% in over 3 hours! I have always used the approved Apple charger and cable direct to the mains. I have changed the cable but with no effect and the lightning port is clean. I only use the iPad to do occasional emails and internet searches so is not over-used by any stretch of the imagination. Have any other users experienced similar problems and are there any solutions?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

I am using the 12 watt appliance which came with the iPad. The issue has only started recently having upgraded the OS, nothing else has changed (as far as I can tell). I have read all the suggestions posted by other people and noticed that it does appear to charge slightly faster when in airplane mode but nowhere near what it was like before.

Are you sure you are using the correct power brick? The iPhone power brick (Smaller and cube shaped) can charge the iPad, but it's slower. If it is correct, then you might have some sort of issue.
