Automator new pdf contact sheet

macOS High Sierra 10.13.3

Trying to use Automator New PDF Contact Sheet. Selected .jpg photos into PDF contact sheet. I have read a few posts on how to complete this with a few iterations. Neither one fully works for me.

Automator encountered an error running this workflow: “Couldn’t communicate with a helper application.” Posts with this issue indicate a bug that reference an older version of Makepdf.app but are old (2010-2011). I would hope that bug was resolved by now.

Any thoughts
