iCloud compared to OneDrive

Before I remove my OneDrive account, I need to know how iCloud works and I did find what I was looking for..

If I for example have 500 Gb images on iCould, how will that sync with my devices that for instance have 32gB? What will be in the could and what will be sync. to my device? Will it fill the memory on my device or can I choose what images to be both on my device and in the cloud as OneDrive?

iCloud is a syncing service, not an off device/computer storage service. Using your photo example, iCloud will attempt to put all 500 GB of photos on the device. It is an all or nothing sync. You do not get to decide what is on the device and what is in iCloud. For photos, to increase space available, go Settings/Your Name/iCloud/Photos and select Optimize iPhone/iPad Storage. That will reduce the space required by about 90% when fully effective.
