hey, i took backup on external storage "Seagate", now i am not able to open photos on it, it says formate not supported by photo library.. what should i do now? how to make sure whether backup is done properly on external device? will i be able to open picture through external device if i delete photos from my macbook... please help.

Do not delete the photos from your computer. If you have all the photos on your computer, run Disk Utility/First Aid on the drive. Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase. Use Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Once done, copy your photos to the external and check that you can access them.
If you don't have all the photos on your computer, access the drive using Disk Utility and see what the format is. Post that in a reply.
