Question: Files not going to trash bin

when I delete a file, it does not appear in my trash bin. I have high sierra the latest operating system. Advice please!

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), iOS 11.2.6

I understand that when you try to delete a file it doesn't appear in Trash. Are you receiving any kind or error message?

First, please give your iMac a fresh restart and then try again to see if that helps. If you still have the same issue after that, I suggest testing in another user account on your Mac to see if you get the same result. This can help isolate the issue from the main user account to the entire system.

First, from Recovery I would run the DiskUtility>FirstAid> on your Macintosh HD

if no resolve I would simply— "Empty and recreate an account's Trash" from the terminal.app
