I have the device to add another monitor but see the same on both monitors. How can I view something different on each monitor. I want to end up with 3 monitors if I can get it to work.

Mac OS High Sierra, I did figure out to go to settings display uncheck mirror. Now I can't drag a screen from the mac to one of the other monitors.
You have to disable the "Duplicate monitor" option in System Preferences -> Displays
