Why can’t you return an iPhone after 14 days if you don’t like it?

I got the iPhone X when it first came out and tried it out for a few weeks and found that I absolutely hate it. I feel like it was falsely advertised as far as the size; it was a comeplete downgrade after my iPhone 7 Plus. Everyone thought the iPhone X was going to be as big as the plus editions. I tried to get used to the fact that it didn’t have a home button, but it just doesn’t feel right. I gave myself 2 weeks to feel it out and realized it wasn’t for me. The Animojis and the facial recognition wasn’t even worth paying so much more for this small iPhone. I tried to return it to my carrier service and they told me I was 2 days past the return period of the 14 day limit. I’m extremely unhappy with this phone and I don’t feel like people should be stuck paying for a product they don’t want. I’ve had an iPhone since the 3G but I think after having this phone and not being able to get a different iPhone after only 14 days (it couldn’t be at least 30 like most products?!), im going to veer away from Apple at this point.
