New Apple TV 4k turn off tv and last channel

I cut the cord on cable TV and phone. I'm using my new Apple TV to run my Hulu, Netflix and DirecTV Now thru. So far so good.

I've noticed a couple of things and I don't know if Apple TV doesn't do this or I just haven't figured out how yet.

1) When I turn my TV on I just hit the menu button on Apple TV and both Apple and my TV turn on. Can I somehow turn my TV off with the Apple remote?

2) The only thing I am missing about cutting the cord from Comcast is that they had a last channel button so I could flip back and forth between 2 different channels with just one button. So I could be watching CNN and click and be on MSNBC. Can I somehow do that with Apple TV?

Thanks,

Susan

1. When you put your Apple TV in sleep mode it will also turn off the TV, which is done via HDMI CEC. If that's not occurring then check your TV settings or contact the manufacturer.

2. Not possible. The closest thing would be using the app switcher by double tapping the home button on the siri remote.
