I keep getting notifications to update software and then when I try to do it, it tells me this software is not available - was registered to a different user or something. Help! How do I stop these notifications or delete these updates from the app store?

I figured it out - thanks to you suggestion which reminded me I have two Apple ID's. One is an old me.com email that it won't let me get rid of - Grrrrr! So when I entered that apple ID, it let me download. What a pain!

Well, that didn't work either. I am still getting this message when I go to update:
Update Unavailable with This Apple ID
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
This is for Numbers and Pages and iMovie - all of which I bought along with this computer! Very frustrating!
Hmmm, they are iWork apps and I have old versions and new ones, so I will try getting rid of the old version. That might do the trick. Thanks!
You can go to system preferences and turn off notifications for various apps and programs. You can also edit notification center on the mac.
Thanks, but do you or anyone out there know how to delete these apps from my update list? I do want to get the valid update reminders, but this is super annoying - every day!
One way would be to open the App Store, open the updates page and right/control click in the white space between the text and the update button which should show the word "Hide" and click on it.
Tried that - can't find any Hide option. I don't know why it keeps sending me updates I can't have!! Grrrr.....
Well if they are apps you have no use for and don't want updated you can always uninstall them.
the hide option will only work with software updates as in OS X updates, not app updates

Just delete the apps, and download them again, this time using your own Apple ID. They are free.
