Cannot unpair Apple Watch from sold iPhone

Hi

I have a Apple Watch OS 4 and have tried to reset it so to pair to my new iPhone.

Previous iPhone, to which the watch was paired, is sold and therefore I cannot use to unpair.

I tried the placing it on the charger while powered on and pressed the power button followed by the suggestion of pressing to activate the erase function al previous posts and UTube etc.

Unfortunately it does not work for me?

I can still see the watch using "find my iPhone" on iCloud and have the facility to erase via iCloud, however not sure if I do erase vis iCloud I may not be able to use again?

Any suggestions / advice welcome

Howdy mjukmg,

I understand that you need to erase your Apple Watch in order to pair it to your new iPhone. A good way to go about doing so is to erase your Apple Watch via iCloud, as you mentioned. Once the device is erased, you can go about setting it up with your new iPhone.
  1. On a computer, go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
  2. Go to Find My iPhone.
  3. Select All Devices, then click your Apple Watch.
  4. Click Erase Apple Watch. Select Next until the device is erased.
  5. Click User uploaded file next to your Apple Watch.

Cheers!
