Did you use the "camera" icon to attach your screen shot while replying?

It looks like this:

User uploaded file

Do the phone and the tablet show exactly the same settings for accounts and for contacts?

Also, in Contacts, tap "Groups" in the upper left corner. Do you see any lines besides "ICLOUD" and "All iCloud" (and any groups your created on iCloud)?

Even with only one account on each and the same settings, I'll again suggest:

Hold up the two devices side by side and compare the lists of contacts. Do you see which ones are present on the iPad but missing on the iPhone?

Example: Alice, Bob, and Dave are on both, but Charlie and Ed are only on the iPad. Make a complete list for yourself. (Don't post it here.)

You should have 30 on the "Charlie and Ed" list (100-70).

Followup: What do the contacts on the Charlie and Ed have in common (that those on the Alice, Bob, and Dave list don't have)?

Hello, I have a new iPad 5th generation and I just set it up over the weekend. I have iCloud turned on for both my iPhone 6S and the new iPad. Now I have multiple duplicate contacts on both devices, and the total number of contacts are not matching from my iPhone to my iPad.

Anyone else have this issue? Is there a fix for it? Please provide feedback. Thank you.

Thanks Mark. I checked my phone, since I don’t have my iPad with me, and I have iCloud set up for my contacts. I believe that in the Contacts app it’s set up for All iCloud and All Gmail for both my iPad and iPhone. I saw that my old iPad mini is still listed in active devices in iCloud. Maybe this is part of the problem. I’m going to have a chat tonight with Apple support.

As I asked before (with added emphasis):
"Can you ascertain which contacts are missing from your phone and whether they are all from one repository or the other (all Gmail, all iCloud, or some of each)?"

That is, if you hold up the two devices side by side and compare the lists of contacts, do you see which ones are present on the iPad but missing on the iPhone?

Example: Alice, Bob, and Dave are on both, but Charlie and Ed are only on the iPad. Make a complete list for yourself. (Don't post it here.)

Followup: What do Charlie and Ed have in common? (Are they both from Gmail? Both from iCloud? Some of both?)

You can tell which contacts come from which repository (account) by selecting "All iCloud" and disabling "All Gmail" in "Groups" to see iCloud-only contacts, then reversing the settings to see Gmail-only contacts.
