Macbook Pro does not recognise Apple ID

Hi, as has been posted before (with no helpful advice given).

My Macbook Pro won't recognise my Apple ID password (it is definitely correct as I can use it to login on Apple website as well as icloud.com.

Please help as I can't update my macbook and everytime I start it up icloud asks for the password and won't recognise it when its typed in.

Thanks

I rang Apple Support and this is how you fix it (worked for me anyway).

Type in Apple ID password on Macbook (I did it when updating to High Sierra). It won't recognise it (i.e., the problem), but they text you the verification code anyway. Then type in password again followed by the verification code (i.e., password456677).

Hope this helps!
