I downloaded a Windows 10 ISO installation file and used BootCamp and a 8GB USB stick to download it. When my computer restarted after the installation was complete, this message can up and I can’t do anything about it (tried holding option etc. already).
Can anyone help me with this?!
Also, the first time I did exactly that (Install option checked, created partition for Windows 10, and tried to install it). When the computer restarted, it came up with the “boot disk” message. How will doing this again help?
You are in Internet Recovery, because the Mac is unable to boot from the internal disk.
The first two BCA options allow creation of the USB installer, which needs to be done only once. The Install Option can be independently checked, which allows the same installer to be re-used, if you choose to remove the partition, and create a larger or smaller partition.
If a partition was created during the previous attempt, unless you removed it, it can be re-used. To re-use the same partition, connect the USB, and boot and hold Alt/Option and select the Windows icon and the existing partition when in the installer partition selection screen.
Unfortunately, I decided to remove the partition and reinstall it all over again before I read this. This time, I updated my Mac to the latest version, and proceeded to follow the correct steps as I went through the BootCamp Assistant. However, the same thing happened. After the partition was complete, my Mac reset but went to a screen that says “No bootable device blah blah blah...”. I’ve now tried the methods of resetting the NVRAM and SMC, but this screen still comes up!
So just to confirm, you want me to run a NVRAM reset (restart computer, turn on, hold command+alt+p+r), then run SMC reset (restart computer, unplug it, hold power button for 5 seconds, then plug back in and turn on), then hold the option/alt key?
Ok, it worked! I’m back on my Mac. Now, do you mind giving me an in depth explanation of what I need to do to get Windows running? I followed apples steps on BootCamp Assistant but that didn’t work for me as you could tell.
Are you still in the boot manager? If yes, if you insert the USB, does it show up as a selection?
If you are in macOS, reboot with the USB inserted, and hold the Alt/Option key. Do you see any selections from the USB. If you see Windows (not EFI Boot) select it and test.
The last option on this screen is the Install Option.

Are you using a USB2 flash drive for the BC-created Windows Installer? USB3 flash drives do not work.
