Question: High Sierra 10.13.3 randomly launching applications

High Sierra 10.13.3 is randomly launching applications; just now launched Mail when I wasn't touching the laptop. This appears to be a known problem, but no solution posted.

Try running this program in your normal user account, then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy Report” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. You can run the report for free at least once, but if you run it several times, at some point it will ask you to pay a license fee.

Hi haywardfault,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Community. I understand that applications are randomly opening on your Mac running High Sierra.

The first thing that I recommend to do is try starting your Mac in safe mode to see if the issue continues. The following article includes the steps for safe mode and what to do if the issue doesn't continue while in safe mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

You can also try setting up a test user account on your Mac to see if the same behavior happens in the test user account: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Let me know how these steps work out for you.
Best regards.

Try removing the above from your login items is System Preferences/Users & Groups. Restart and test. Also try another admin account and the Safe Mode as Joseph_S suggested.
