I keep getting Cannot Verify Server Identity: iPhone X, iOS 11.2.6

Help! I can only select Details or Cancel from the pop-up notification I'm getting. How do I get rid of this? I have an email account with Hostmonster that I use with the Mail application and it's saying "The identity of "mail.erikre.com" cannot be verified by Mail. I've never had trouble in this phone with Mail or my prior phone, the 6s. It's worked perfectly until now. My email is on the erikre.com domain. Thanks!

Maybe, just MAYBE -Apple should update it's iOS/Mail/etc pop-up text to indicate or link to USEFUL information on this issue. But Apple doesn't bother. Apple just took away the ability to manually approve a certificate a few iOS versions ago , never considered user's needs, and never bortgered to expalin to users that his change could cause this "infinite-loop of certificate notifications but HA HA we won't help you users understand it or fix it"

Hi Alternati,

I understand that you have a custom domain for your Mail server, and recently you started getting an error that your iPhone is unable to verify the identity of the server. I'm happy to provide some help for this issue.

First, I recommend checking that "Use SSL" is disabled for this account. If there's not a certificate for your custom domain, then your iPhone can have this issue identifying the secure connection. To do this, open Settings > Accounts & Passwords > [Account] > Account > Advanced > Use SSL.

If this does not resolve the issue, I recommend going through each of the troubleshooting steps provided in the article below:
