The cover of the book I was reading shows, but it won’t let me open it, close it, turn pages or go to other books. How do I get it fixed?

Have you tried a hard reset of your iPhone by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPhone goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?
You’ll have to redownload your purchased books when you did that because when you deleted/remove an app, you delete its data.
