Airport express, unable to connect to main router

As far as i know i have the correct settings to use the Airport express as a wireless extender. However, when i set it up to be wireless it does not work. I get two problem messages, one saying about the internet connection which is apparently resolved and another saying 'No DNS Servers'. How to fix please?

I apologise for how confusing this must have been, I have many networks and it can get confusing to which is what. Good news is I've managed to get it to work, not too sure how but if it works it works. Appreciate the help!

The first thing to check would be to confirm that your "main" router.....the one that is providing the signal that the AirPort Express will "extend".....is also another Apple AirPort router. Is that the case?

If yes, which model do you have?

If no, the AirPort Express will not be able to wirelessly "extend" the network provided by a third party router, so you will need to make other plans to extend the network.

Next item.....what device.....a Mac, a PC, an iPhone / iPad......will you be using to configure the AirPort Express?

- Using computer to configure

Mac, or PC? We ask because AirPort Utility is different on a Mac compared to a PC.

- Model A1392

So, you are saying that your "main" router is also another AirPort Express, correct? In other words, you have 2 AirPort Express devices?

- The connection i tried could be another airport, but now I can't tell for sure as i've messed up and can't find the device.

You have told us that you have 2 AirPort Express devices, correct? So, your "main" AirPort is an AirPort Express and the device that will extend the network is also another AirPort Express, correct?

For now, power off the "extender" completely and work on getting the "main" Airport Express back so that it will appear in AirPort Utility. Power off both the modem and the "main" AirPort Express, wait a few seconds, and then power them up again.

If the "main" AirPort still will not appear, then you will have to start over and set it up again. Once the "main" AirPort is up and running, then we can set up the second AirPort Express to extend the first.
