i just got the iphoneX about a week ago and anytime i make or recieve a call the screen stays on and either hangs up or goes into different apps i dont know what to do. i cant even use my phone as a phone.

If you're using a case, perhaps it is interfering in some way? Try using w/o a case and see if that helps. If not, try resetting or restoring the iPhone as this is not normal.

Reset:

Press up volume, then down volume, then press and keep holing the Sleep/Wake button until you see the Apple logo.

Restore:

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

Have you taken it back to the Apple Store where you purchased it to have it looked at?
