Macbook air - Airdrop working only one way

I am able to send files from my Macbook Air but unable to receive as it is not being detected by any other apple devices (iPhone / iPad / other Macbook).

I have set the discovery options to 'Everyone' and tried to restart the laptop / turn on-off bluetooth wifi but no luck.

Can anyone suggest me the solution?

Airdrop not working on MacBook Pro (but IS working on iMac and iPhone) Hi, So my Macbook Pro's Airdrop is not working. It's in the same room as my iMac (at the moment) and sometimes I need to transfer files from one device to the other. When opening Airdrop on the MacBook Pro, nothing shows up. When opening Airdrop on the iMac, the iPhone shows up. When looking at options for transferring files from the iPhone only the iMac shows up. I have switched Bluetooth off and on on the Macbook Pro, likewise wi-fi off and on, restarted etc. No luck. Any ideas? One thing to note: every time I open Airdrop on the Macbook Pro, it always appears to be reset to "Allow me to be discovered by: No One" despite me manually changing it to "Everyone" every time, like from one second to the next....it seems to switch back. But even if I set it to Everyone and stay with it open, no other devices appear, unfortunately. Any insight most welcome. Thanks Gordon I'm on OSX Mojave 10.4.6

MacBook can send airdrop but not receive from any device. I can airdrop stuff from my MacBook to several iPhones. however, when trying to airdrop to my MacBook, it gets stuck on waiting. I've made sure that the bluetooth is on, the firewall settings are right, set to receive from anyone... I even started in safe mode and it still didn't work. I don't understand why. I read that I should reinstall Mac OS. but I don't want to have to reinstall Mac OS and lose everything and have to start over with basically a brand new machine. what can I check or do to try to get it to receive airdrops? because this is ridiculous.
