Saving to desktop slow, then fast again?

Hi,

Taking a screenshoot or saving a file directly to the desktop sometimes takes up to 10 seconds to save. And sometimes it shows up immediately. Completely random when and if — found a couple of threads related to Google Drive slowing down saving files to the desktop since upgrading to High Sierra. No Google Drive installed though…

Any ideas? Please let us know!

Do you have your Desktop and Documents saved to iCloud?

System Preferences->iCloud->iCloud Drive, click on Options.

If the first box is checked then whenever you save something to the Desktop it will sync to iCloud, which may be causing this delay (I never used this option, as I would immediately run over my iCloud quota, not to mention the fact that I want to make sure my data always stays on my mac).

Welcome. As far as CCLeaner, sorry, my eyes were playing tricks on me. Well, seeing Tresorit is the type of program that syncs to the cloud like the Google products, that would be my first choice. Plus it doesn't appear you have anything else installed that would cause the problem. unless Astropad is causing an issue. Anything is possible I suppose.

Your install looks clean other than those two apps. Someone else may have an idea.

Thank you so much, of course – really appreciate the help!

Yes, it's a rather clean and recent installation. I see now that CCC was referring to Carbon Copy Cloner. We only recently tried Astropad – it's not causing it either unfortunately.

Just a bit worried as the delay sometimes happens and sometimes doesn't.
