can 2012 13" MBP do 16 gb in one chip?

I have 2 different 2012 MBPs (one is a 9,1 and the other is a 9,2). Both were upgraded long ago to 16GB by using a kit of two 8GB SODIMMs. Now each one appears to have a failed memory slot. (And it appears to be the upper slot in one computer and the lower slot in the other computer.) Now I do know that if the slot fails on one of these MBPs it requires a motherboard replacement to fix it. So, before I settle for living with only 8GB of ram -- does anyone know if I can put a single 16GB chip into my one working slot and get 16GB of ram that way? I went to amazon and copied down the product descriptions for all of the size variations of this memory:

  • Crucial 16GB Single DDR3L 1600 MT/s (PC3L-12800) 204-Pin SODIMM Memory - CT204864BF160B

  • Crucial 4GB Single DDR3/DDR3L 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) Unbuffered SODIMM 204-Pin Memory - CT51264BF160BJ
  • Crucial 4GB Kit (2GBx2) DDR3/DDR3L 1600 MT/S (PC3-12800) Unbuffered SODIMM 204-Pin Memory - CT2KIT25664BF160B
  • Crucial 4GB Single DDR3/DDR3L 1600 MT/S (PC3-12800) Unbuffered SODIMM 204-Pin Memory - CT51264BF160B
  • Crucial 2GB Single DDR3/DDR3L 1600 MT/S (PC3-12800) Unbuffered SODIMM 204-Pin Memory - CT25664BF160B

Do I have any hope of getting that CT2KIT204864BF160B and putting one in each computer?
